Calling Daddy

I, being a Tamil, speak in Tamil and I'm deeply interested in writing and reading Tamil. But from my child hood I've the habit of calling my father as daddy in English than calling him Appa in Tamil.

Tamil being my mother tongue and I being the son of a man who taught me Tamil from the time I've been in my mother's womb, I'm not ready to call him "Appa" rather than I feel satisfied calling him "Daddy".

This doesn't seem to be a serious issue, but it is. Because, not only me, many of us. We are losing the shades of our mother tongue and we don't ever mind to care about it. Not only we Tamils, it's about all of India. Every language of our country is facing this problem.

Let me not bother about the rest of India. But what it is about my mother tongue? And if I take an oath of calling him "Appa", then it's a shame on me. Is that a kind of a New Year resolution of calling your parent in your own mother tongue. I really need to change myself in this serious issue.

Let me join with my kind of people and we shall try to change ourselves.

Amma, Appa, Anna, Akka, Mama, Athai, Thatha, Paati sound better than calling them Daddy, Mom, Bro, Sis, etc.
